Note: The Biotechnology Add-On is designed to follow your participation in the Medicine & Health Care program. While students may attend the program following any session of the Medicine & Health Care program, the NSLC recommends students participate in the July 25 – August 3 session at Northwestern University.

The practice of medicine is undergoing incredible changes as advances in science and technology revolutionize the treatments available to tackle disease. During the NSLC Biotechnology Add-On, taking place immediately following your Medicine & Health Care program, you will go behind-the-scenes at some of our country’s most advanced research labs and discover what it takes to have a successful career on the cutting-edge of medicine, science and technology.

Hands-on Labs

During a series of hands-on labs, you will learn how doctors and scientists use advances in cell and gene manipulation to provide unprecedented treatment to patients suffering from diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

Behind-the-Scenes Visits

While at the NSLC, you will go behind-the-scenes at medical facilities and research labs using biotechnology today. You’ll meet with professionals in the field and discover what career opportunities are available in the biotechnology industry.
