EXPLORE
Geneva, Switzerland
Geneva is the perfect city to learn about global institutions and experience a diversity of cultures. Geneva is the most international city in Europe, with over 40% of its population coming from outside Switzerland. Nestled between the nearby Jura Mountains, the French Alps, and Europe's largest lake, Lake Geneva (Lac Léman in French), Geneva is located in the western most corner of the country, just a few miles from France. Like in the rest of Switzerland, most locals speak several languages, including French, German, English and often Italian. Each day, you will come across people from all over the world, whether they are on vacation swimming in the lake, on their way to work in a Swiss bank, or shopping for Swiss watches on the Rue du Marché.

EXPERIENCE

Interactive Career Simulations
The NSLC on Globalization & International Business uses an interactive approach to learning that gives you an opportunity to immerse yourself in the challenging complexities of international trade. You will work with your team to take charge of a country’s development. You will create economic and social institutions, manage your country’s resources and go out into the world as you test the waters of international trade. Once you understand the basics of global trade, you will tackle the challenges of globalization as you step into the shoes of a delegate to the World Trade Organization. You will need to advocate for your country’s interests as you negotiate international trade agreements.

Meet International Business Professionals
While at the NSLC, you will meet with and learn from business and government leaders as you experience globalization and international business firsthand during exclusive site visits. In past years, NSLC students have gone behind-the-scenes at multinational corporations including Nestlé, RADO and Evian and international organizations including the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and the International Labor Organization.

Visit Geneva
This program will be packed with activities that are both educational and fun. To take a study break from the busy academic curriculum, the group will head out together each day to visit sites around Geneva. Some of the most popular activities include a walking tour of Historic Lausanne, a boat tour around Lake Geneva and a visit to the famous "jet d'eau" which spouts 500 feet above the lake. Evening activities such as an ice cream social, a bowling night, and a dance party will help you get to know your new friends from high schools all over the U.S.
