Do you dream of a career on Broadway? Is acting your passion? Do you want to work behind the scenes – as a director, stage manager or set designer? At the National Student Leadership Conference on Theater you’ll work with real Broadway professionals as you develop and showcase your talent on the New York stage!

During the NSLC on Theater you will experience the life of a Broadway actor as you rehearse and perform in your very own production. From choosing a script to designing the set to performing on Opening Night you and your peers will be responsible for all aspects of your production. Throughout the process you’ll receive feedback from professional actors, directors and stage managers who have years of experience working on Broadway.

While at the NSLC, you will meet with and learn from professionals in the New York theater community including playwrights, actors, directors, stage managers and producers. In the past, the NSLC has taken trips to Broadway & Off-Broadway shows, and met with:

• Cast of Phantom of the Opera and Hairspray
• Broadway Producers and Performers

At the NSLC you will enjoy college-level lectures on theater performance and production. The lecture series will form a foundation of knowledge that will be vital to your success, not only during the conference but in your future career in the theater. Topics include:

• Acting for the Theater
• The Art of Stage Management
• Playwriting: From Idea to Production
• The Business of Broadway

At the heart of the NSLC is a leadership curriculum designed to build concrete leadership skills that will help you succeed. From the beginning of your program you will learn to work as a team during an exciting Ropes Challenge Course. Interactive lectures and small-group workshops will give you an opportunity to build upon your strengths and minimize your weaknesses. Leadership topics tailored to the Theater program include:
