Director's Message
As Executive Director of the National Student Leadership Conference, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the NSLC website.
Since 1989, tens of thousands of outstanding middle school and high school students from across the United States and more than 70 countries have come to the NSLC for an incredible opportunity to share, discuss and debate issues that affect them, our nation and our world. The NSLC’s unique, curriculum-based leadership conferences have given our students the opportunity to explore the qualities of great leaders and get an insider’s perspective on some of today’s most exciting and important professions.
I am especially pleased that our students have had the opportunity to work with and learn from many prominent national and world leaders. In recent programs, NSLC students met with Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Supreme Court Justices Kennedy and Souter, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, renowned surgeons and medical researchers, Ambassadors, and White House Officials.
Most importantly, however, I take great pride in having seen the contributions NSLC graduates make to their communities, their colleges and their professions. Each year we hear from alumni who report that the leadership and communication skills they learned at the NSLC and the great friends they made in the program have served them very well.
On behalf of our Honorary Board of Advisors including more than 300 Senators, Congressional Representatives and Ambassadors, we want to thank the many teachers, counselors and principals who have nominated their students to attend the NSLC. We are honored to have had the opportunity to help many of the world’s best and brightest middle school and high school students reach their full potential.
Now I invite you to explore our website and consider the many opportunities the NSLC can offer you.

Executive Director
Student Supervision
With 30 years of experience running summer programs for middle school and high school students, we have been able to finely tune our student supervision practices at the NSLC. Students are supervised by an NSLC staff member throughout their entire day as they move from activity to activity in our small group format. Our student-to-staff ration of 9-1 will ensure that your student is supervised and cared for during their entire stay with us. Staff members are comprised of middle school and high school teachers/counselors and assisted by college students pursuing careers in the respective field.
The NSLC provides a full-day packed with supervised activities in order to provide an amazing education experience. Students spend most of their time within their small group and are always checked in and counted every morning, after every meal, multiple times throughout the day, and at bed check each evening. The dorm facilities are secure and only accessible to residents and staff via assigned key card. A front security desk is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. NSLC staff members reside in the dorms on the same floors as the students, ensuring that a staff member is always nearby if needed.
Job Opportunities
The National Student Leadership Conference relies on the contributions of its staff to make each conference experience successful.
The NSLC is looking for enthusiastic, hard-working individuals who enjoy working with middle school and high school students and have experience in the academic fields of our programs, leadership development, residential life, and/or office administration.
