Student Safety & Support

Setting the standard for student well-being

MESH+ Seal from the Alliance for Camp Health

At the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC), the physical and emotional well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. From campus classrooms to residence halls, our programs combine attentive staff, clear expectations, and established safety procedures to help students explore new interests and develop independence in a supportive environment.

Our commitment extends beyond physical safety. As the first and only U.S. on-campus pre-college program to earn the MESH(+) Seal from the Alliance for Camp Health, NSLC has demonstrated its commitment to supporting students’ mental, emotional, and social well-being.

Staff-supervised residence halls

Residential students live in university dormitories with NSLC staff residing on the same floors to provide supervision, evening room checks, and overnight support.

Structure with room for independence

Students follow a full program schedule, with established campus boundaries, attendance expectations, and guidelines for free time and planned social activities.

Nationally recognized for student well-being

Our MESH(+) recognition reflects a comprehensive approach to students’ mental, emotional, and social well-being, from staff training to individualized support.

Dedicated on-site leadership

Each NSLC location has an administrative team available to answer questions, address concerns, and coordinate additional student support when needed.

Health & Wellbeing

NSLC is the first and only pre-college program in the nation to have earned the MESH(+) Seal from the Alliance for Camp Health.

The MESH(+) Seal recognizes a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to mental, emotional, and social well-being, reinforcing NSLC’s commitment to creating an environment where students can explore new interests, build independence, and thrive. The MESH(+) framework evaluates four key pillars:

  • Student-centered programming
  • Specialized staff training
  • Student needs screening
  • Medication & care measures

On-Campus Living

An immersive campus experience

Experience daily life on a university campus, from academic sessions and hands-on activities to shared meals and time with fellow NSLC students. Residential and commuter options offer the same core programming, with different arrangements for housing, meals, and time on campus.

High School Middle School

Residential

Our recommended option offers a more immersive introduction to college life, with opportunities to build independence, navigate shared living spaces, and connect with peers beyond scheduled activities.

  • Supervised campus dormitory housing
  • Accommodations from singles to quads, depending on location
  • On-campus dining plan for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Commuter

While we recommend residential attendance for the fullest NSLC experience, we recognize commuting may be a better fit for some students and families. Commuter enrollments are limited per location.

  • Designated daily arrival and departure times
  • On-campus dining plan for lunch and dinner
  • Participation in all scheduled academic, leadership, and social activities
